HOTEL REVIEW: VERANDA NATURAL RESORT, KEP CAMBODIA
In one of the best-kept secrets of Kep, Cambodia lies the wonderful Veranda Natural Resort. Up the hill within the naturally beautiful environment of the National Park.
The private villas, suites, bungalows and rooms of the Veranda Natural Resort are taking up about 2,5 hectares and are all designed to create an aura of peace and nature. Every part including the walls, floors, roofs and furniture have been made from indigenous materials such as stones, wood, bamboo and shells found within the resort’s perimeter.
Our room which was the “residence penthouse double” to be exact, was quite impressive and spacious with a heavenly king size bed, and a netted veranda with views of the surrounding tropical forest, the ocean and distant mountains. The bathroom was my favorite part of the room as I loved the stones and materials used to build it.
The restaurant has its own bakery and is famous for its delicious breakfast buffet. After the first morning I completely understood why. It is definitely one of the best buffet breakfasts I’ve had in Cambodia. Most of their ingredients are grown in their own vegetable and fruit garden, although a lot of ingredients are still imported from Kampot and Phnom Penh. Fish of course comes straight from the local fish and crab market.
The amenities at Veranda Resort include two pools, a steam room and a spa. My spa treatment was a full body wrap and I enjoyed every part of it. The infinity pool was definitely my favorite. The service throughout my stay was outstanding. With the staff paying attention to the smallest details. You can tell that they spend the time and the money to keep this hotel at a high standard!
SPECIAL SERVICE FOR THE KIDS
For the little ones, Veranda Natural Resort has The Happy Hut. A special space for the kids located next to the Garden Pool giving parents the opportunity to relax at the pool while the kids are creating all sort of hand made creations 99.9% out of recycled, organic or local materials!
All in all this hotel has an eco-friendly attitude by using eco-friendly materials such as bio shower gel etc. But I think they definitely could improve more when it comes to eco waste management and eco-friendly garden fertilization.
Even though the hotel is a bit away from the beach, it offers enough to make you not want to leave the resort and I had a really good time staying here.
